They are sweet, juicy, and crisp with honey-like notes. Their low acidity makes them brown slower than other apples, making them great for adding apple slices to your lunchbox! AND newton pippin apples - Tart and Complex! Typically light green, the Newtown Pippen sometimes has a yellow tinge often with russeting around the stem. Its flesh is yellow and crisp while its flavor is complex and somewhat tart and requires storage to develop properly.
