linc box

through the seasons

Our sourcing team’s longstanding relationships with our region’s farms allows us to source peak season produce year round! When Inland Nortwest availability is slim, we work our sister hubs in the Northwest Food Hub Network to supplement our local product catalog.

“The LINC box is always the highlight of my Wednesdays! It is nice to feel connected to where my food comes from and get to make a special stop each week for great produce.”

LINC BOX & SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINABLE GROWING PRACTICES

All farms our co-op works with are committed to using environmentally responsible, socially just growing practices. Although not all farms are certified organic, our producers attest to not using synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and follow a standardized food safety protocol, ensuring top quality and safety in all our products.

FOOD MILE REDUCTION

LINC sources from farmers, ranchers, and artisans within two hours of Spokane. We encourage farms that travel a longer distance to carpool with other farmers or make one large delivery rather than many small ones. Local food is not only fresher and tastier, it cuts down on fossil fuel emissions due to travel time. When product availability is slim in our region, we work with the Puget Sound Food Hub Co-op and the Western Montana Growers’ Co-op to source regional and sustainable foods.

REUSABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING

We are required to use plastic liners to transport produce but the liners we use are biodegradable! We encourage our farmers to deliver LINC Box produce items in as little plastic as possible, within transportation requirements. Some farms even use biodegrabable plastics when packaging is necessary!

Reusing cardboard LINC Boxes also helps us to reduce our footprint. We reuse the cardboard boxes throughout the season. Remember to bring your empty boxes back to your pickup site so we can reuse them the following week!
