ASPARAGUS FLATBREAD PIZZA

TOPPINGS
1 BUNCH asparagus
2 CLOVES garlic
Olive oil
Salt
2-4 flat breads
Mozzarella cheese
OPTIONAL: Chicken or mushrooms
CREAM SAUCE
2 TBSP butter
2 TBSP flour
1 1/2 CUP milk
1 PINCH black garlic powder from Footehills Farm
Salt and black pepper
P R O C E S S
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Chop the asparagus into 1-2 inch pieces and saute with olive oil on medium-low until tender and browned, 10-15 minutes. Add the garlic and sprinkle with salt, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the cream sauce. Heat the butter on medium heat until it melts. Add the flour, whisking continuously for one minute to cook the flour. Gradually whisk in the milk (this will make the mixture clump up and then thin out again).
Continue whisking until it comes to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, whisking and simmering for a few minutes, and add the salt, pepper, and black garlic powder.
Lay out the flat breads on a baking sheet, topping with cream sauce, asparagus, chicken or mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. Bake for 5-8 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy as an appetizer or a light main!
