FARM SPOTLIGHT: LAZY R RANCH

Lazy R Ranch is run by a fourth-generation ranching family dedicated to land regeneration through holistic livestock management. When grazing is rotated to mimic natural patterns, livestock can improve soil health, increase carbon sequestration, and decrease desertification! This means that carbon is captured and stored in plants and soils rather than left to remain in the atmosphere! Lazy R Ranch produces some of the most sustainable grass-fed beef available and is run by Co-Founder and Chief WOOer of LINC Foods, Beth Robinette. Beth also co-hosts The New Cowgirl Camp, a five day intensive course for women interested in learning the basics of Holistic Management and ranching. It is natural for cows to live in family units so at Lazy R Ranch they are grazed as a whole herd; mommas, calves, and steers. This allows for less stress for both the cows AND the humans (less work!). When grazed together, new cows can learn from cows with seniority about things like where to find water and what to eat.

One of the challenges of rotational grazing can be moving the fence along with the animals. The electric fence at Lazy R Ranch is connected to these tumblewheels, which makes rotational grazing much easier! Rather than moving each fence post you can just roll these wheels along and leave them where they need to be.

Lazy R Ranch raises a Black Angus and Lowline Angus cross. They host about 150 animals at a time, each over a 24 to 27 month lifespan.
