Yellow Nectarines - OPMA (okanagan producers marketing association), Okanogan, WA - Enjoy this summer stone fruit with a SUPER short peak season! Nectarines are actually a smooth-skinned variety of peach with an extra sweet zing.

Heirloom Tomatoes - Peak of Abundance, Spokane Valley, WA - Some of the first tomatoes of the season!! This versatile fruit can top your favorite salad, be the base of a soup or sauce, or give any dish a delicious summer flare. Try this Homemade Salsa, Tomato Basil Bruchetta, or my favorite during this heat wave... a Caprese Salad!

Italian Globe Eggplant - Big Sage Organics, Othello, WA - These pretty purples make a great baba ganoush or pair well with zucchini to top a white wine pasta dish!

Purple and Green Bell Peppers - Full Bushel Farm, Medical Lake, WA - The first peppers of the season with their pleasant bite of crisp bitterness! These peppers can be chopped thinly into a fresh pico de gallo or sauteed for fajitas!

Kale - Vinegar Flats Farm, Spokane, WA - Full grown kale is a favorite for salads, kale chips, soups, and smoothies. One of our favorites is the avocado kale salad recipe! or Basil - Vinegar Flats Farm, Spokane, WA - Basil is a balance between sweet and savory, with hints of mint, anise, and pepper. While the initial flavor has pronounced tones of black pepper, this aromatic herb ultimately adds a hint of sweetness to any dish. During the summer months, we love using basil in this Caprese Salad!

Black Beans have a dense and meaty texture that hold their shape when cooked. Dry black beans cook in 45 minutes, with no soaking required. If you are looking for shorter cook time, you can soak them first.
